The police are called out to a murder 
, but are
abruptly pushed out by Torchwood. Gwen's curiousity is aroused and she
heads into the adjacent car park 
to get a better view.
Witnessing the victim being temporarily brought to life, she jumps when the
man in charge talks directly to her and she runs off, coming to a rest by
some bus stops 
.
Having met up at work 
the next day,
Gwen and Andy chat about Torchwood on their way to a
disturbance 
, but then Gwen gets hurt in a pub brawl
and ends up having a check up in hospital
. She spies the Torchwood leader and having followed
him and witnessed the death of a hospital worker by a savage creature she
follow the team out of the hospital 
and sets off in
pursuit.
Following their car 
, Gwen learns more about Jack Harkness from Yvonne at the station 
, and eventually arrives at Cardiff Bay
, but loses track of them. Later that night she decides to
investigate further and pops to a local pizza takeaway 
and finds out an address to deliver pizza to
. Inside she discovers far more than she expected once
inside 
...
Having introduced her to the team, Captain Jack Harkness decides to
take her for a drink to discuss
Torchwood further 
. However, she discovers that he has
drugged her to lose her memory, and they argue outside the pub
before she runs home as quick as she can
to record what she remembers, but fails.
(in the meantime the Torchwood team have all disobeyed instructions
not to take alien equipment out of the Hub, with Owen using a sex spray
in a bar 
, and then picking up both partners outside
.)
As the next day dawns and Jack surveys the city 
,
Gwen is at work 
and desperately trying to remember
something, tuning out on duty as Andy chats later on
. That evening she decides to go back to the Bay
and is confronted by Suzie, who turns out to have been the murderer. She
commits suicide rather than facing Jack on her actions. With a place free
in Torchwood, Jack offers Gwen a job ...
